#473 Ramble

Rest in peace Ramble.  Our deepest condolences to all who loved you…💙🐾
Last week we were informed that GSRNE’S Ramble has crossed the bridge.  This handsome boy was 12 years old and very much loved by his family.  They told us his GSRNE sister, Riley who has been with him since she was 4 months old misses him terribly.
Ramble had came from the South to a shelter in New England and had badly flea-bitten ears; at that time, he was 2 ½ or 3 years old.  The couple who adopted him from the south eventually had a baby and said that Ramble seemed to be upset by the baby’s crying.  They felt it would be best to find him another home and got in touch with GSRNE.  During his time in foster care, Ramble has not acted nervous about any noises or activities and has shown no aggression toward dogs or people.
He found a young couple that was interested in adopting him and they went above and beyond with his training and socialization.  It wasn’t before Ramble was thriving in his GSRNE forever home.  The couple went on to adopt a 4 month-old female puppy, Riley, from GSRNE and Ramble willingly accepted his new fur sister into his home. Eventually the family had 2 children that are now 2.5 and 1.5 and Ramble was wonderful around them and trusted.  Rest in Peace beautiful boy…💙

#590 Pepper

Pepper is an ongoing project, but she is the sweetest puppy.  She’s full of love for us and her brother Casper, but for no one else. Her favorite person in the whole world is her dad. They go for daily morning walks with him and play ball with me in the afternoon.  Her manners are excellent and the stress she previously showed about noises of any and all kinds is all but gone.  All in all she is doing very well.

#566 – Ace

Ace was adopted at almost six years old by Chris in 2021. After losing a beloved GSD, Finn, at about the same age to bloat complications, Chris decided he wanted to do something for other German shepherd dogs in honor of Finn, and he found GSRNE online. While he wasn’t quite ready to adopt, he began fostering Ace. As often happens, Chris and Ace really clicked, and the foster situation turned into an adoption situation.
Ace had had four homes in his first five years of life, which really perplexed Chris because he is such a wonderful boy. He describes Ace as lovely, a good companion, just a good boy, and very bright. It seems clear he very much wanted (needed!) a permanent home. While somewhat aloof at first and unsure about trust, he quickly acclimated and became quite loving and trusting. Chris tells us they established a morning ritual where once he wakes up and comes downstairs, Ace will come to him. Chris will ask him if he slept well, and Ace will nuzzle him. Chris will then ask if he had good doggy dreams, and Ace will nuzzle in further. That’s the way they both start off their day together.
Ace is a very special dog with a lovely disposition, and Chris and Mary are so happy and grateful they found him. ♥️🐾

#469 Zeke

“I fall asleep with you in my heart in hope I see you in my dreams”…💙
“Sadly we lost our beloved boy Zeke on Friday, July 21, 2023.  Zeke came into our lives in September 2016 at 8 months old.  He was the most handsome young male we had ever seen.  The first month he was a normal, crazy, energetic, playful and social German Shepherd.  He was introduced to his older sister, Georgie, it took awhile but the two became inseparable.
Zeke was in what we say “The honeymoon phase”.  He went went to daycare with us everyday and played with the other dogs and loved the staff.  Then suddenly (at home) he became what I later affectionately called him a Velociraptor.  He started exhibiting some rather concerning behavioral issues that needed to be addressed in order for him to overcome his past.
We were very fortunate that GSRNE enabled us to find the best possible chance to gain his trust of the world again and he started attending a behavioral school 4 days a week and Fran and I had go to class 2 nights a week with him as well. After about 9 months Zeke became a well mannered and responsive dog that could coexist in the world.
We were soon also to find out that Zeke would be plagued with severe GI issues all his life but that never stopped him from eating anything and everything that he could put in his mouth.  He was also known as the vacuum.
Zeke was a challenging dog all his short 71/2 years, but was loved and loved us back unconditionally.  He was Fran’s velcro and heart-dog.  He was my Mr. Nibbles at night.  We had our own little routine.  This past January he started having some idiopathic pains that were medically managed and we planned a vacation on the cape July 15th -July 21, 2023.  Prior to us all going away he had a full Neurologic work up that did not evidence anything.  We had a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing vacation near the water, just the three of us.  Zeke did not like the angry waves.
Our hearts break knowing we will never hear your bark again, or feel your warm embrace when you leaned into us for love.  You have left lasting impressions on our hearts.  We will love you forever and ever.  We can’t believe you’re gone.  You were such a presence in our lives.  We both still hear you and see you out of the corner of our eyes.
Until we meet again at Rainbow Bridge – Zeke you are so loved very, very much.  Our hearts ache but you are no longer in pain and you are running healthy and playing ball with Rocket and Georgie.”
Deb and Fran…💙

#522 – Leroy

Look at this sweet boy! This wonderful guy has been with us almost 4 years. He enjoys his walks by the river or just around the woods or just loves to play in the yard and chase the bunnies and squirrels. He had a clean bill of health at the vet so we are happy with that.

As you can see he is quite the Velcro dog, always at my side 24/7. He’s a biggest mama’s boy! I work from home so this helps with his separation anxiety.  He truly is the best, and we are so happy that he is with us and able to be himself.

#623 – Luna

Hi Karen! Happy Summer ☀️I hope you are all enjoying the season and staying cool! I’m sending along some photos of Luna. What a sweet and special dog she is! She weighed in at 87.8 pounds at the vet yesterday for a checkup. She’s a happy girl playing with her family and is best friends with our neighbor dog and Stefan who lives in the next town over. Happy tails. 😊

#404 Winston

“It’s hardest to forget where there is such an empty space now that you have gone.”  💙

It is with great sadness that we announce that GSRNE’S Winston has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We all loved this boy and, for all of what he went through in his early life, he was a gentle giant. Winston was such a happy, energetic boy, in spite of having dealt with the damage to his eye and ear and going through Heartworm treatment when he first came to GSRNE.  He lived to be 14.5 years old, and we are so grateful to know that he was well loved for the major part of his life.

“We are devastated. Winston was an absolute joy and we miss him.  We were lucky to have Winston!”

Rest easy handsome boy…💙
