Ben is a beautiful boy and a total love! He originally came from TN and had been with his owner about six months when the owner contacted GSRNE. He didn’t feel that Ben was a fit for his lifestyle but before we could evaluate Ben, the owner had a change of heart and some months passed before we heard from the owner again. This time he was sure that the best thing for Ben would be to let him go to another family. When Ben first came to GSRNE, he spent some time with our Training Director to help him gain more confidence. He learned that being left alone is ok and that his person will return. He then moved to a caring foster home. Ben is well-behaved and loves to be with his person. He wants to please you and is always excited to see you. He also loves his crate and runs to it when he wants to relax or at bed time. His foster home describes him as a “big love bug”. He likes other dogs and lived with a female dog at his original home and with his foster family. He does well at the vet and walks on leash nicely and is social with people and other dogs he meets. Ben has not been tested with cats.

Ben loves mealtime. He’s a chow hound and waits by his crate to get his food. He also loves to go outside and run around his yard. He will bark at people walking by his yard but he shows no aggression. He greets all visitors who come to the house with excitement and friendliness. One thing he is not comfortable with is car rides. Whether that is the result of his long ride from TN, we do not know but his family will need to be patient with him while he learns that cars are ok.

Ben is a happy dog who does well in his crate but would love a family who could be home with him and give him attention and play. He also does well with older kids.

We anticipate that Ben will need time to adjust to a new home and initially his anxiety may return but with patience and leadership, he will trust you and give you all the love you could ever hope to have.
