1-year-old Muks is a snuggly dog who loves never ending pets. He enjoys laying with his foster family’s kids on the floor watching tv often rolling over to continue the petting. His foster family describes him as a little goofy in a good way with a puppyish personality, high energy, and is very good natured.
This summer we received a call from a man looking for help placing Muks. He’d had him since he was a puppy. However, not long after bringing Muks home, he suffered a serious health crisis that left him hospitalized for months and with a prolonged recovery ahead of him. Muks had been staying the man’s girlfriend, but missed out on early socialization and training. It was very evident that he loved Muks and knew Muks needed a home that could provide these things for him as well as more exercise and activity.
We were thrilled to have just approved a new German Shepherd experienced foster home willing to take Muks. They began helping Muks burn off his extra energy. His foster family is working on basic manners including threshold etiquette and developing consistency. He’s also working on recall using a long line in the backyard. Muks still needs continued training but has come a long way since his arrival in their home. Muks is great with people, but his lack of early socialization has caused reactivity with other dogs. We think he would do best as an only dog.
