RAINBOW BRIDGE

With sad hearts and fond memories of our beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge…

When one of our beloved pets pass away, that pet goes to a place called Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

ALL the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

YOU have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. Happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then together you and your special pet(s) cross the Rainbow Bridge.

Nela was adopted in October 2010, when she was about 2 years old. When GSRNE found her, she had been in a shelter for 5 months and weighed only 49 pounds. She thrived in her foster home and it wasn't long before her foster dad asked to adopt her and make his home her permanent home. Her dad...

#304 Coda

Coda (Kasper) GSRNE #304 2006 - March 2015   I wanted to send you a note to let you know with great sadness that Valerie and I have had to say goodbye to Coda. He sustained a Carpal Hyperextension injury and fractures to both of his front legs. His prognosis was unfortunately not very good. The surgeon, due to his size and age, thought that surgery was probably not in Coda's best interest. At best he would have a year or more of recovery and still might not be able to support himself and...

#299 Danika

Danika - GSRNE #299  August 10, 2006 - May 12, 2016 Danika first came to our house as a foster dog. We learned that she had a difficult life, and was already returned several times. We had a rescue cat, named Patrick, and we knew that Danika had lived with a cat previously. For a while, Patrick would tease Danika by walking back and forth right next to her nose.  He also liked to jump onto the dining room table and try to smack her on the head with his paw as she looked up at him.  When he...

He was a perfect addition to our family and we will look back on the 8 years he was with us with nothing but fondness....

Less than a week before Christmas, she stopped eating, and lab studies indicated she was bleeding internally. X-rays revealed her spleen to be the source of bleeding, and that her liver and kidneys were not good. The vet said Shayne would have about a week to live. I brought her home and she had a...

#295 Dakota

Dakota GSRNE #295 2009 - 2/7/2020 With the heaviest of hearts, we said goodbye to Dakota (GSRNE #295) on Friday morning, just shy of ten years after he first came to us as a foster dog in April 2010. Dakota had been found at 6-9 months old, wandering the streets of Lynn, Massachusetts in the rain, with no chip and no tags, by a woman with a dog of her own, five cats, and a tiny apartment. No one claimed him, and he stayed with her for another 6-9 months. She named him, lightly trained him...

Oh how she loved that ball... Everyday this sweet girl would enthusiastically wait at the door patiently with her ball for Mom & Dad to take her out to play fetch. She also loved going on walks to the park, and riding in the car. Her family loved her dearly and would spoil her with homemade cooked...

He is at peace now. We have been blessed to share Champ's journey over this last 6+ years of his life, and to be able to give him the life he so deserved...

She loved to antagonize the cats, chew things (not always the items she she was supposed to chew), go for walks, ride in the car, and hike in the woods and down by the river....
