Meet Nikki !

Sometimes doing the right thing is also the hardest thing.

Nikki’s owner a gentleman in his late 70s, recently reached out to us with a heavy heart. He and his wife truly believed they were ready to welcome another German Shepherd after losing the one they loved 20 years ago. But time has changed things an he has been dealing with circulatory issues in his legs, and Nikki’s youthful energy has simply become more than they can safely manage.

He didn’t give up on Nikki because he doesn’t love her, quite the opposite. He wants more for her than he can provide. The truth is, Nikki has been safe, loved, and well cared for from the day she arrived. In fact, by bringing her home instead of letting her end up with just anyone online, he may have saved her from a very different fate.

Nikki is everything you’d expect from a young German Shepherd… smart, affectionate, eager to learn, and full of energy. She learns quickly and just needs the structure, training, and consistency that a young shepherd thrives on.

Surrendering a beloved dog is never easy. Nikki’s owner made the heartbreaking decision because he loved her enough to put her needs ahead of his own. He knew she deserves the time, training, and active lifestyle that he can no longer provide.
