Auction Donations, Forms and Tagging Party

Auction Donations

What items are we looking for? German Shepherd items of course! Statues, small rugs, throws, pillows, key chains, jewelry, GSD notepaper, cards, t-shirts and prints — just about anything goes as long as it is first quality and something that can be auctioned.

Dog-related items do very well and don’t need to be German Shepherd specific. We are looking for dog bowls, cookie jars, leashes, collars, dog beds – all kinds of pet products! One-half to two-thirds of the auction items are pet specific and the good news is that if we receive too many of one type of item for the auction, they can be used for other events or even for our foster dogs. But we don’t leave out people! We have seen beautiful vases, jewelry, collectible plates, and baskets of products that anyone can use. Sports memorabilia items are also very popular, as are any kind of electronics. Come and see which items raise the most this year!

PLEASE complete a separate form for each item you donate. It really helps us to have the completed form at hand when we are preparing our Auction Catalog and your tax deductible donation receipt. There are three ways to donating items to us: 1. You can bring items to the tagging party (see below). 2. You can deliver them to one of our collection sites located throughout New England. Please email us at for locations. 3. You can mail your items to: GSRNE, PO Box 4063, Westford, MA 01886 for receipt by Friday, March 20, 2020.  The date is important so that we have your donated items in time for the Tagging Party. Our Auction Catalog Photos are taken at the Tagging Party and descriptions are entered into our database for the Catalog. It really helps if you include a brief description of your item or items and the value so that we get it right for the Auction Catalog and for your tax receipt.

Tagging Party Volunteers Needed

On Saturday, March 28, we start the tagging party at 10:30 AM and work until we’re done, which is usually around 5 PM. If you’re unable to stay all day, please consider joining us for a couple of hours. Any length of time will be a big help!  What do we do at the Tagging Party?  We work hard and have a ton of fun at the same time.  First, we organize donations into groups for the Live Auction (usually about 60 – 70 items),  the Yellow Silent Auction and the Blue Silent Auction. We also fill in missing descriptions on Donation Forms. One of our GSRNE photographers takes pictures of items that will be in the Live Auction and we need help to list each item with its photo number so that the Catalog is correct. We also need help to set up the items for their photos and to enter all of the items into a master file that we use to set up the database. Eventually, all items will be boxed up for transport to the Springhill Suites on the morning of the Auction!

We do take a food break in the middle of the day and we each bring something for the group to snack on such as fruit, crackers and cheese, sandwiches, pizza, chips and pretzels. We also need soft drinks (water, fruit juice, soda). Please email to R.S.V.P. to the Tagging Party and let us know what food or drink item you’ll be able to bring. We put it all out, buffet style, and take about 45 minutes to reward ourselves with food (positive reinforcement!). If you are not able to bring food, we still hope you will attend. There’s always enough to share and if you are new to GSRNE, the Tagging Party is a great way to meet other GSRNE volunteers!

If you will not be attending the Tagging Party, we ask that all donated items for the auction be sent to GSRNE, P.O. Box 4063, Westford, MA 01886 for receipt by Friday, March 20, 2020.
