Sunny is a stunning 1 year old black/tan spayed female.  She came to GSRNE from a local shelter after being surrendered/seized by law enforcement.  She is a beautiful, sweet girl.  She is petite in size at 56 lbs but has all the endearing qualities we love in GSD’s.  She is strong, loyal, friendly, affectionate and has a wonderful disposition considering she probably didn’t have much of a puppyhood.

In her foster home, Sunny has showed that she is ready to learn and grow. She quickly got into a routine with her foster parents as well as an elderly parent that was staying with them for the first 4 weeks.  Her personality is sweet, friendly, and affectionate.  She loves her morning walks and playtime in the yard at mid-day.  She LOVES playing fetch with her tennis balls.  She chases after them and quickly comes back to drop it at your feet and wait for the other one to be tossed.  She also enjoys playtime inside with her treat ball and Kong crinkle bone.  At days end, she is happy to join in on some relaxation and downtime while her people watch TV or do crafts.

The shelter had worked on training with her and that continues in her foster home.  She very willingly goes in her crate without issue.  For obedience training, she does excellent with Come, Sit, Leave it, No, Look and Place and is progressing with Wait, Stay, Heal.  She gets very excited when she sees her foster mom put on her coat as she knows it’s time for a walk or playtime outside.  She walks very well on a leash but still gets a little nervous with cars going by.  She usually just sits and watches them go by and then we continue walking.  She also enjoys car rides.

Sunny met 3 dogs when she was in the shelter and did very well interacting with all of them. Since being in foster care she has met 4 other dogs and did well with all interactions, both in meeting them and walking with them.  When meeting people, she is shy/nervous at first but with proper introduction and a few treats passed to the person, she warms up very quickly.  She then will sit at their feet, look up and welcome some petting and attention. She has met people both in the foster home and on walks and both have gone very well.

A great home for Sunny would be an active family or couple that is willing to continue her training and exercise so she can continue to build her confidence and grow and mature.  She is truly a very loving dog and will be a great companion.
