Since coming to GSRNE this handsome one- year- old has thrived in his foster home.  Rex was originally surrendered to us from a family that rescued him from a physically abusive situation, but things didn’t work out between Rex and another dog they had in the family.   With the family’s small dog, Rex would bark a lot, hackles up, but he’d stop when a family member stood in front of him.  In their home, he was also showing submissive urination behavior.  Fortunately,  he has never shown that in the foster home he shares with a two- year- old friendly female Doberman named Raven and a senior male Beagle/mix named Chance.  His foster parents had been approved to adopt a dog from GSRNE, wanted a young male, and they were very open to fostering Rex with the option to adopt him.

With lots of love, patience and guidance from his foster Mom, he has adapted well in his foster home and loves both resident dogs, Raven and Chance.   For the past month, he has been attending training classes, learning some basic obedience and is acing that;  the instructor has told us that Rex is quick to learn and has adapted well.  He likes to ride in the car and gets excited knowing he’s going to training classes.  He has a sweet personality, loves people, is very affectionate and will roll over for belly rubs; the ball is his favorite toy.  It’s almost like Rex knew he was in his forever home.  From the first day he arrived there he became part of the family and has been well- behaved and never shown any submissive urination.  We are so happy that his new family —dogs included –were willing to open up their home to him as a foster to adopt.
