Nakova’s date of birth was given as 1/1/19 when her owner called GSRNE and said the
family was moving and couldn’t keep her. There was no record of vet care or any other
paperwork for her, and she didn’t seem to have had much exposure to the world outside
her crate.
That all changed once she moved to one of our foster homes, of course, and we quickly
learned that Nakova is a very affectionate girl who loves to be with her people. She has
a lot of energy and especially loves to run in the large fenced yard, which she didn’t feel
confident to do at first. The other two German Shepherds in her foster home showed
her how much fun that can be, and also introduced her to the wading pool in the yard.
Now, she loves to splash in the water or just lie there to take a rest.
Nakova has met other dogs during training classes and gets along well there. When
going for walks, she does bark and pull towards another dog walking by but is not
aggressive. She lives with two cats in her foster home and does seem to enjoy barking at
them and making them run, but it seems to be all in good fun as far she she’s concerned;
the cats are not so sure.
At seven months old, now, Nakova still has a lot to learn and will push the envelope to
see what she can get away with. She needs a home with people who enjoy being
outside and active and where someone can be around most of the time. She follows her
foster Dad to his wood shop and is content to hang out while he’s working. If he wants
to run an errand in the car or go for a walk in the park, she’s up for that, too. Her foster
parents had recently lost one of their dogs, adopted from GSRNE, and Nakova arrived at
the right time to help them deal with that loss. She has been there for them, and now
they would like to be there for her as her forever home. We’re happy to share the news
that Nakova is being adopted.
