Jaxx came into GSRNE with itchy skin, from fleas, ear infections and two skin tags that needed to be removed, one next to his eye and one on his belly. His owner had rescued him from an abusive situation when he was 2 years old and had done the best she could for him; but, then, she became homeless. It was evident that she loved Jaxx and wanted the best for him, and his mellow, low-key personality attests to that.
In the words of his foster parents, “Jaxx is so laid back and calm…he doesn’t get worked up about anything other than “talking.” You can really get him going when you talk back to him. I mean, a full conversation takes place, and he is so funny. He loves belly rubs, anytime, anywhere.”
Jaxx is living with a female GSD in his foster home, and it took a while for them to become comfortable with each other. She’s a lot more active than he is, but he’ll play some fetch and then just let her get to the ball first. He enjoys short walks, likes his baths (which include belly rubs) and is quite content to hang out with his people, whether in the yard or in the house. He’s a little wary when meeting a new person, but he warms up pretty quickly and will lean in for some back scratching or roll over for a belly rub. He’ll bark at another dog who walks by the house or when out for a walk himself, but he’s not aggressive.
It took a while for his foster parents to get used to the fact that Jaxx likes to comment on everything and anything that happens in the home. They’ve worked on teaching him “Quiet,” but being vocal seems to be part of his personality. Now that they’re used to it, they find it to be just another of his endearing qualities; so endearing, in fact, that they have applied to adopt him themselves. He’s fitting so well into their family that we’re happy to see Jaxx stay right where he is, confident that life will continue to be very good for this handsome boy.
