We first learned about Jake in January, when his owner was considering giving him up; her son has seizures, and Jake was too protective of him to let an EMS near when the boy was having a seizure. His owner changed her mind, some time went by, and she contacted the shelter, again, to turn him in. We did not have a foster home available, so we have been boarding Jake while getting to know more about his personality. He’s a big boy and weighed 110 pounds when he was surrendered. He has trimmed off some of that weight, but he’s still a very good size. The owner of the boarding kennel takes him for walks and tells us that Jake walks nicely when on a prong collar; he’s strong, so his adopter will want to continue working on training with him. When our photographer did his photo shoot, she said she loved Jake’s personality, in addition to his looks. We don’t want to keep him waiting in a kennel for his forever home, so we’re posting him on our Available Dogs page so he’ll have a chance to find the right adopter sooner, rather than later. Please contact us if you’d like to meet Jake.
