Inka is an adorable 10 week old puppy. His owner contacted GSRNE looking to rehome him after the family realized that the puppy was more than they could handle. German Shepherd puppies are known to be mouthy (meaning they use their teeth to learn about the world around them), need constant supervision, and early socialization. They have a lot of energy and are often precocious. They will channel that into unwanted behavior if not correctly guided. Inka was not acting any differently than a normal GSD puppy which is why we strongly encourage anyone getting a puppy or dog to research the breed characteristics and needs before doing so.
We had an open foster home who has fostered many puppies for us and knew what to expect from the little guy. The foster has a doggy care facility and immediately started socializing Inka and allowing him lots of play time. He is already responding to routine and structure. He is a sweet and happy little guy who loves to play and be around the other dogs.
As luck would have it, we had already approved adopters looking for a young pup. They were previous GSRNE adopters whose beloved GSD passed away this fall. Inka will join a big sister Boxer to help him learn the ropes of the new home as well as 2 cats. Congratulations to Inka and his new family.
