This is the second handsome male to come into GSRNE recently bearing the name, Harley, so we refer to him as Harley 2 in order to avoid any confusion.
According to his foster Mom, this Harley is, “good natured, patient, smart, wants to learn and loves to play. It’s fun to watch him when he’s waiting for the ball to be thrown, since he gets very focused on it in a happy way.”
Harley 2 had been with an owner who was hoping to have him trained to be an emotional service dog, but that didn’t work out. She really needed a dog who could do that, so she asked GSRNE to find him a home where he can just be a good companion. He can be reactive to other dogs, and he’s enjoying being an only dog in his foster home.
Harley’s foster Mom says that he does well with a predictable routine and gets fed at regular times, twice a day, and has his walks and playtimes in the yard at around the same times each day. He did not have good manners around food and has had to learn that counter-surfing is not allowed…also, that it’s not ok to hover when people are eating, in hopes of sneaking a mouthful. After being crated during mealtimes, Harley has learned better to respond to verbal commands.
He likes to stay nearby so he can see when his foster Mom or her teenage daughter have finished eating, or washing the dishes, or working at the computer. He seems to sense when the job is done and will then ask for some attention or playtime. Harley is becoming the dog he was meant to be and is now ready to find his forever home!
