This handsome boy came into GSRNE when he was just 10 months old and had already had two or more homes.  He had very little self-control and would jump up and mouth people in excitement; he guarded his toys and would grab and pull on the leash during a walk.  Nothing too unusual for a young dog who has not been given much training or guidance but challenging for many people.

We decided to ask our trainer, Mary Farren, to board and train Hans to help him learn some manners and help him become adoptable.  It took several months, but Hans is now ready to move on to his forever home with an experienced GSD person.

He gets along well with other dogs and meets new people without jumping up; he will sit nicely when asked and waits for treats from visitors.  He knows “down, stay, place” and other useful commands and really likes to please.  Hans is an energetic boy who loves to play; one of his favorite toys is a Jolly ball.

He has recently met an approved adopter who has the necessary experience with German Shepherds and who made a real connection with Hans after spending some time in the house and in the yard, gradually getting acquainted.  This man had been waiting for some time to meet a dog who would become his best friend, and Hans had been waiting for the right forever home.  We are very pleased we were able to bring them together and look forward to hearing about Hans’ new adventures!
