Freya seems to be always smiling, and meeting people is her specialty. She greets everyone with affection and enjoys getting
praise and attention, making visitors feel like old friends.
She came into GSRNE in June, after her owner called and said he and his wife had gotten a divorce and were each moving to
housing where dogs were not allowed. Their two dogs had been littermates and together their whole lives. He was
hoping they could stay together, but we explained that it’s difficult to find adopters who can take two dogs at once. We were
very lucky to have a foster home who would do that, but we learned that the two dogs would probably do better if separated.
Freya is not really interested in toys and actually buried the ones she was given. Her favorite game was to chase after her brother,
Aries, and nip at his heels while he chased his favorite toy, a Frisbee. That didn’t seem to bother Aries, and Freya continued to
practice her herding skills.
There were two cats in the home, and our evaluator witnessed their interactions with Freya, who was comfortable having them
around. She is not tolerant of other dogs, though, except for her brother. When there were other dogs in the neighboring fenced
yard, she would rush to bark at them through the fence and try to fence fight. She is indifferent about going for walks, but will
gladly accompany you if that’s what you want to do.
When she came into GSRNE, Freya was overweight and trimmed down nicely while in foster care. Her original owner told us that
she had been taught to ring a bell on the door knob or bark when she needed to go out. When outside in the fenced yard, Freya is
more interested in flying insects than most dogs seem to be.
Once she locks in on one, she’ll chase it all around until it flies out of sight.
Freya is ready for her forever home with an adopter who will appreciate all the love she has to give and who will give her lots
of love and affection in return.
