Diesel is a gorgeous, large male, about 1.5-2 years old; his age is an estimate,
because he was found as a stray by a shelter ACO and never claimed. At that time,
he was under weight, had an ear infection and was not yet neutered. The shelter
took care of the neutering, treated his ears and called GSRNE.
Fortunately, we had an experienced foster Mom who was able to give him a
chance. He fit in well with her German Shepherds and loves to play chase games
with them in the fenced yard. His foster Mom said, “He thinks he’s a
thoroughbred when racing in the yard, but he’s more like a draft horse; his foster
siblings can outrun him and jump and turn more easily than he can.”
Now that Diesel has gained the weight he needed, he’s a big boy but still young
enough to have some puppy behaviors and will try to get away with things by
being pushy. He’s learning that counter surfing is not allowed but still likes to try
occasionally. He likes to pick up paper towels and tissues and will get into the
trash if it’s not locked away. He also likes to play with tennis balls and Kong
chews, enjoys going on walks and car rides and especially enjoys being in the
kiddie pool on a hot day. He loves being scratched behind the ears and getting
long strokes down the back while by your side.
Diesel has bonded closely with the 4-year-old female GSD in his foster home and
will tease her with toys to get her to play. When they’re both tired, they will lie
down close to each other and mouth wrestle or just relax. He has also bonded
closely with his foster Mom, and she has asked to become his forever home. She
knows what he needs in ongoing obedience and manners training, and Diesel has
made himself very much at home in the few weeks he’s been there. We’re very
happy that he is loved and wanted now and couldn’t ask for more for this boy.
