Gentle Millie is a beautiful, loving 3 year old lady. Initially a bit shy, Millie needs time to warm up to strangers, but then enjoy lots of pets and face scratches. Her favorite game is fetch and she will easily relinquish the toy so you will keep playing with her.
Millie was very loved in her former home. She was wonderful with the young kids. She was not destructive in the house and she did well with her basic training. Although she got along with other dogs, she began having difficulty with the resident female German Shepherd. They did well together for a time, but fights started to break out without warning. Sadly, this is a story we have heard before. The German Shepherd breed is known to develop same-gender aggression among females. Two females living together can feel pressured to show dominance in the family or pack. Even females who initially get along can show significant aggression to one another later in life. Her family tried to problem solve the issue between the two dogs, but it ultimately became a safety concern and they felt that the best way to give Millie a wonderful life was to find her a new home.
Our evaluators found Millie to be a shy, but very sweet dog. Her disposition was such that we felt we could place her directly with an adopter. Luckily for her, we had a family willing and able to bring Millie into their home. After she arrived, her new family took their time with her, allowing her to adjust to her new surroundings while setting up a routine to help with her transition. Millie has since blossomed in their care. She loves her games of fetch and her regular walks. She has even started to explore the water at the lake near her home. After she gets her energy out, she happily snoozes while her family watches TV in the evenings then sleeps the night away in her comfy bed next to her mom and dad. Her mom and dad are simply in love with this gorgeous girl and how well her transition has gone. Congratulations to Millie GSRNE and her new family.
