Max is an energetic 2 year old male whose owner passed away. The extended family were selling the home and needed to find a place quickly for Max. Max had not been socialized much in his short life. The family entertained several people inquiring about private adoption, but the potential adopters did not understand that Max, like many GSDs, needs time to get to know people to establish a bond. He will initially be aloof, but if you give him time, his sweet and happy personality shines through. Our evaluator noticed right away that Max had a lot of energy and enjoyed playing. Using this as a starting point for introduction, she had Max leaning up against her for pets by the end of the visit.
Max needed to be moved quickly and we didn’t have any foster homes available so he went to a local board and train facility. This allowed Max, who didn’t have formal training to begin learning the basics. We had a potential adopter who’d had under-socialized dogs before and could see Max’s potential. When she met Max, she knew it was the right fit and spent several weeks visiting him so that he could get used to her. Max is now super excited to see her and get extra play time. We are so happy to announce that Max is headed to his furever home.
