About GSRNE
Since 1996, German Shepherd Rescue of New England, Inc. (GSRNE) is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing veterinary care, evaluation & adoptive homes for the countless numbers of German Shepherd Dogs who are left in pounds to await uncertain fate, are owner surrenders (divorce, death, etc.), or are from abuse or neglect situations. We help provide a safe harbor for German Shepherds that might otherwise be destroyed.
Rescue services are sometimes also provided to German Shepherds who are in acute need of placement due to changing family circumstances such as a family illness, allergies, economic hardship, divorce, or relocation to a “No Dogs Allowed” situation.
Each dog applying to our program is evaluated for temperament and behavioral information. All accepted dogs are spayed or neutered, updated on vaccinations, and receive essential medical care. Then the dogs are placed into GSRNE foster homes, while they await new homes. Finally, each dog is carefully placed in a loving home with a family that matches that dog’s temperament, activity level and needs.
In addition to the above, GSRNE strives to protect German Shepherd Dogs by promoting public awareness and education about caring for and living with this breed. BARRON NEEDS A HOME
Meet Barron!
This handsome gentleman adores his people. Treats are the way to his heart and once you are his person, he is as dedicated and loyal as they come. He LOVES toys and can often be seen bringing his favorite red ball!
Barron is a typical german shepherd, weary of strangers and protective of his humans. Due to his size and looks, he can be quite intimidating until you get through his tough guy exterior. We think that his special person may have been hurt by a man so he can become reactive when a man gets near the woman he feels he’s protecting.

Forrest Needs a Home
Meet Forrest,
We have seen so much growth in Forrest since he has been here. He used to enjoy bowling, with us being the bowling pins! Now instead of smacking down pins, we can enjoy the trails together, with the sunlight making our shadows long. Sometimes we stop for some butt pats, ear rubs and loving looks.
Forrest is a special boy, with a lot of potential for the right handler. He has loyalty to give in spades, soulful eyes and Jolly Ball habit.
Forrest is looking for a home where his main handler is physically and mentally strong. Forrest has only been used to having rules and boundaries for a short time and he has been very successful with them. He and his new family will be happiest if those continue.
Forrest’s ideal home will be an adult-only one where he can shine without having to worry about any other animals interfering with his toys and food; he doesn’t like to share.
Stop by and meet Forrest with any other adults that live in your home. German Shepherd experience is a plus and we would love to introduce him to you!

Don’t Miss Our 24th Annual Live Auction!
Auction excitement is building, and we hope you will all come join in the fun! Our 24th Annual Live Auction is being held on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Peabody, Mass.
The Auction is open to the public, so please invite your family and friends and come enjoy the day with us. We have received so many great items for the Annual Auction, and there is sure to be something that catches your eye.
We can also use your help! We are looking for volunteers to come early on Auction Day to help us set up. We have three auctions to prepare in a very short time. At 9:30 am, we start unpacking the items and getting them displayed on the tables. If you want to help set up and/or clean up before/after the Auction, please contact Diane D at: auction@gsrne.org.
GSRNE supporters come from all parts of New England to attend the Auction, so it is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and to meet new volunteers. People start arriving around 11:00 am, and the first step is the Registration Table, where you sign up for a paddle and receive an Auction Catalog. Even if you are not sure you are bidding, it is nice to have a free catalog and paddle, just in case! After registration, most people walk around to see the Auction items and check off their favorites. And, of course, there are lots of homemade goodies at the food sales table to tempt you.
The Silent Blue and Silent Yellow Auctions start bidding at 11:30 am. Bidders write down their paddle number and their bid on the sheet of paper for each item they hope to take home with them. It is always fun.
At 12:00, our Auctioneer Extraordinaire, Lauralee D, takes the podium to begin the Live Auction! You’ll hear, “It’s all for the dogs…” and “Just five dollars more…” as Lauralee whips the crowd into a bidding frenzy.
At the end of the day, even if you didn’t win the item you wanted, everyone is a winner for coming out to help support GSRNE. Your support makes a difference!
If you wish to come prior to the auction, the Springhill Suites is now dog friendly. We will have a special rate (around $169 +tax and a $50 charge for a dog) which will be quoted later, please let auction@gsrne.org know if you are thinking of a room. The more people, the lower the rate!!

GSRNE 50/50 RAFFLE RULES AND REGULATIONS
This 50/50 RAFFLE is conducted by German Shepherd Rescue of New England, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. All proceeds, less expenses, will benefit the work to rehome the dogs.
PURCHASE INFORMATION: The purchase price of each ticket is $5.00 which gives you 1 chance to win. Multiple tickets may be purchased at discounted fees that are listed on the Raffle page. Tickets must be purchased online by the deadline listed on the raffle page. If an entrant’s credit card payment is dishonored by the bank or credit card company, the entry will be declared invalid unless full payment is made in good funds prior to the drawing. Tickets that have not been paid for will NOT be entered into the raffle.
WHO MAY ENTER? Entrants must be 18 years of age or older. Board members, directors, and other GSRNE members are also eligible to enter.
HOW DO I WIN? The winner will be determined by a random drawing that will take place on the date listed on the raffle page. The winner will be notified by email or phone. The winning draw receives 50% of the net money collected by this raffle after expenses.
GSRNE is not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate, or incomplete entry of information. PLEASE PROVIDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS THAT YOU WILL CHECK REGULARLY, AND ADDING A PHONE NUMBER IS RECOMMENDED.
GENERAL: The winner agrees to permit their name to appear on the GSRNE website at www.gsrne.org and to use their name for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation.
GSRNE reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or suspend the Raffle in whole or in part and return all the monies in the event of insufficient sales.

At the Oquossoc Day Dog Show in Maine, our Grizzly won the best looking Handsome Boy Award. Grizzle is so good and gets along great with other dogs and loves the water. He also loved being on the boat with us. He goes everywhere with us… Football, soccer, and baseball practice!

She came right in and knew she was safe, I tried hard to stay focused as a foster, loving and caring for her while she gained confidence but as soon as we saw her kind and gentle eyes we knew she was in her forever home . And then the unimaginable happened … and the rest is history . Thank you for trusting us.

Kai was a one of a kind dog; the most unique of all of the Shepherds we have had. Highly food motivated, really loved his people and could not care less about other dogs he encountred on his walks except for one in our neighborhood that received his ire for reasons only he knew. Active to the very end, he loved his daily routine which included car rides with his people, be it to get coffee or to go to the local state park. He was well known at every drive-thru window in town and was especially fond of Pup Cups at Starbucks. A big dog, he was nonetheless gentle with his only fault being that he tried to greet every new human friend by jumping on them. He was predeceased in December 2021 by his sister, Bella, GSRNE # 308, who was a special dog in her own right.

| “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others.” – The Wizard of OzThe Rainbow Bridge welcomed another GSRNE Angel this week our beautiful Cora. Anyone who ever met my Cora, instantly fell in love with her. She was the sweetest dog and perfect ambassador for GSRNE and accompanied me on many events when she was younger. Cora came to us, as an emergency foster placement in August of 2012 but, some how we always knew she would stay with us forever. We made her stay permanent only a month later. Cora loved her walks, car rides and everyone of her toys and was always carrying one around the house. The squeaky ones were her favorite. Her two favorites beings were my Dad and her fur brother, Davio. She was my Dad’s constant companion always close by him. Cora took Davio’s passing extremely hard a few years back and I’m grateful to know that they are finally together again.. We all loved Cora, so very much and it was very difficult to let her go today. Cora, I loved you all your life. I’ll miss you the rest of mine… Wait for me Cora, I’ll see you on the other side of the stars.. |
