Sometimes matches were just meant to be. When Lily’s original owner called us to ask if we could bring her in to GSRNE, we had a repeat adopter waiting for a nice, young female but no foster home. We took a chance and asked if they would foster Lily to adopt, with the understanding that we would look for another adopter if things didn’t work out. They have a male GSD/Husky, named Zippie, and agreed to foster Lily and see how it went.
Lily’s original owners were getting a divorce, and there had been tension in the home, so she was pretty stressed when she moved to the foster home. She exhibited some separation anxiety but was crate trained and would settle down after barking for a short time. When someone is home, she’s fine moving around the house and doesn’t do any damage; she made herself to home pretty quickly. At two years old, she still has a lot of puppy energy, and she and Zippie quickly became playmates, which has helped with her adjustment.
Her foster parents have been working with her tendency to jump up when meeting people, but it’s because of her excitement and friendly personality and not aggressive. She loves going for walks and is learning to control her eagerness to see what’s up ahead. Lily is a happy girl whose foster family had become her forever family!
