Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

It is with a broken heart and deep sadness that I let you know that our beloved princess Addie (GSRNE #368) crossed the Rainbow Bridge tonight.

Addie was diagnosed on December 5th with cancer–suspected lymphoma. On December 7th we took her to the clinic and started chemotherapy. She did not respond well, and after two weeks of treatment and additional weight loss, it was determined that she did not have lymphoma but more than likely histiocytic sarcoma–an extremely aggressive cancer that does not respond well to treatment. We weren’t ready to give up ; we were hopeful that we could get another month or two with her. So the chemotherapy was changed and a new type started, but it did not help. She stopped eating and drinking. On December 23rd we rushed her to the hospital, but she was in cardiac arrest by the time we arrived and we had no choice but to let her go.

Addie was an amazing dog who loved her family. She spent her days with me in my home office, on her bed under my desk, or in the lounge chair next to me. In the evenings we would cuddle on the couch and watch TV. She was so very loving and affectionate. She loved her brothers and even though she was the smallest of the three, she certainly let them know that she was the boss. She was my constant companion and I am not sure what I will do without her–I lost a piece of my heart when she left us.
Her life was cut short (she would have been 6 years old in May). I am not sure why, but God must have his reasons. We only had 4½ years with her, but she knew she was loved every single day.
