The first thing people usually mention about Finn is that he’s a LOT of dog.  He is a large male German Shepherd, and he was overweight when we first met him…tipping the scale at 131 pounds.  His owners told us they rarely walked him, and he pretty much exercised himself playing with their two other dogs, a St. Bernard and a Newfoundland.  The second comment we get about Finn is what a handsome and impressive boy he is, with his solid black coloring and confident demeanor.

When his owners contacted us, they explained that they were moving out of state and felt that Finn needed more exercise and training than they were able to give him.  He was just over 5 years old, and they felt it was best for him to be with a family who would be more active with him.

While Finn was in a foster home, we learned that he had a tendency to guard his favorite toys and other objects….not food, but random objects like a remote control, socks or shoes.  His foster Dad enjoyed taking him to the beach, and Finn enjoyed meeting new people, stretching out on the sand and riding in the car.  He loves going for walks and doesn’t get upset when seeing other dogs.  Because of the guarding behavior, though, we decided to move Finn to an experienced trainer and board him so that issue could be addressed.  We’ve been very pleased with the way he has responded to the training and would love to introduce Finn to an experienced German Shepherd person who will give him his forever home.   Please contact us if you can be that special person for Finn.
