At just over one-year-old, this handsome boy still has some puppy behavior and loves toys he can chew, especially rope-pull toys. He will happily engage in a tug-of-war, and it is not uncommon for him to approach and drop the rope toy in his foster Dad’s lap and then gaze up, expectantly.
In the foster home, Beau lives with four adult humans and a 4-year-old GSD/mix female named Dreamer; he is very affectionate and shares that affection equally among his foster family members. He wants to be with his people and is a very enthusiastic greeter when they come home after being away, even away for a short time. He does need continuing obedience training, particularly with respect to not jumping on people when he gets excited and to not flipping up the seat to drink out of the toilet bowl.
Beau has done very well with meeting new people who visit in the house. He will bark once or twice upon greeting but very quickly accepts them and seeks out attention. He is comfortable staying in a crate when no one is home, house trained and great on leash when a prong collar is used; before the use of that collar, he would pull hard whether on a regular collar or harness. He goes for runs with his foster Dad and will trot alongside in good “heel” position. He is well-behaved when passing other dogs during walks, but he will bark at other dogs who pass by when he’s in the yard.
Beau wants to please and is a happy, loving dog who is ready for his forever home. While he’s doing well with Dreamer, he would be happy as an only dog as long as his adopter enjoys going for walks, making time for training and play and will appreciate an affectionate dog who likes to cuddle!
