This lovely girl is smart and eager to please. Her foster Mom says
she loves to snuggle and, if allowed, would probably curl up
beside you on the couch. Before doing that, though, she would
need some good exercise by going for a walk and then playing
fetch with balls or sticks in the fenced yard.
In her foster home, she lives with a male Great Dane/Lab mix,
also a young dog, and they have a great time playing chase
games or doing a tug-of-war with various toys.
When she was eight months old, Cotton was given away by her
owners to a neighbor. The neighbor had other dogs who did not
accept Cotton, so she was taken to a shelter after one week. She
had no training or manners and would jump up for attention and
would become mouthy when overly excited. Her foster parents
have worked on teaching her manners and basic commands, and
she will now sit for her meals, will do a “down” and has learned to
“stay” for short periods. They are still working on her recall and
using a long line to reinforce that.
Cotton stays in a crate when no one is home and overnight.
When her foster parents get home from work, she runs out into
the yard with the other dog, plays for a while and then rests
before eating supper. She has met the cat who also lives there
and has learned to respect her more than she did at first; she is
curious and likes to sniff the cat all over. She barks when there’s
a knock at the door and gets comfortable more quickly with some
people than with others. She can be a little nervous about
meeting new people, but she loves attention once she gets to
know them. With her foster family, she is very affectionate.
She is ready to meet her forever family and will do very well with
people who are active enough to take her for walks, give her
regular play sessions and who will enjoy continuing with her
training. Could you be the ones Cotton has been waiting for?
