In late May we were contacted by a woman who worked with another rescue. She had seen Ezra and 2 other male GSD’s on Craig’s List that were listed as free to anyone who wanted them.  Ezra was no use to him having only one puppy that didn’t survive the breeder just wanted her gone.  She quickly contacted the owner and went to meet the dogs to see if she could help them.  Unfortunately the 2 males were too aggressive and she wasn’t even able to approach them. Fortunately for Ezra her story was different — she was very sweet but, extremely sick and emaciated. That day the rescue Angel named Michelle took Ezra home with her.  Ezra adapted well to the new household that included 3 dogs, cats, and 5 children.  But, with a new baby on the way for late summer and also adding an addition to her home that entailed all kinds of construction work Michelle knew she needed to get Ezra into a rescue that might be able to afford the hefty medical bills to get her healthy, and find her a forever home.

When we contacted a veterinarian about having Ezra spayed, the Office Manager, Hannah, stepped up and quickly offered to foster Ezra after her spay.  All her dogs have always been rescues and she is familiar with many breeds.  Her 8 year old boxer, Bailey Jane immediately welcomed Ezra into her home and they have become best of friends. It was touch and go for a while, as Ezra was found to have Kidney Disease due to untreated Lyme Disease having  been in her system for a long time.  Her kidneys were flushed several times, and she was put on a special food to help her kidneys function better.

We’re happy to report that Ezra has been doing wonderful, and her appetite is back to normal.  She’s that dog that loves going for rides in the truck and a few days a week even goes to work with her new Mom.  Yes, her foster home Mom, Hanna is her new MOM!  Besides her sister Bailey she’s also got a new Dad who Loves her just as much! We’re so happy we were able to help Ezra, and are extremely grateful that Michelle reached out to us for help.
