Who is this adorable little girl? Billed as a Shepherd mix, Misty
had spent weeks in a small pound in Maine that has little
exposure. Therefore, her chances of adoption were slim. GSRNE was
asked to help, and we couldn't pass up helping this adorable girl.
Misty is still a puppy, and so needs
fair and consistent direction to grow into a well-behaved adult dog.
She does get into things she's not supposed to, like slippers, but a
quick "uh-uh" has her behaving again. She learns very quickly and
doesn't need physical corrections to learn. She's a good girl
that wants to do what is right.
Misty engages in
games with enthusiasm and seems to favor tennis balls and squeaky
toys. If you have two toys and toss one, she'll bring it back and drop
it to get the other toy you have. She'll play this toss and retrieve
game until you're both tired, then will quietly relax in her crate.
On leash she is
energetic yet well-mannered and likes to seek out new smells. We're
not really sure what breeds she is mix with but she's intelligent!.
What she's mixed with, we're not sure; Whippet, Sheltie, or Jack
Russell perhaps? We've had guesses of Whippet, Australian
Shepherd, and a few others. Whatever she's mixed
with, she's gorgeous! Misty has a
strong prey drive. Anything that moves quickly in front of her is sure
to catch her attention, so birds, squirrels and cats that run will
have her off in a game of chase and catch.
Plush toys are her favorites, and
when she plays Misty has some darling puppy moves, prances and play
bows. Friendly with other dogs, Misty wants to meet every dog
she sees, and can be very focused on getting there. She will prove to
be a fun buddy for a dog of similar size, or a larger dog that won't
be too rough with her. She's fast though, and can hold her own in a
good game of wrestling with the Shepherds in her foster home.
Afterwards she hangs out with her numerous doggie pals in her foster
home, behaving like the perfect little girl.
Misty can jump and climb very well
already, and would be a fun companion for someone that is active, or
enjoys fly ball or agility perhaps. At 20 pounds now at 4 months,
we're guessing she'll be around 45 lbs when grown. Misty is ready
to be part of a family who loves her spirit and energy and can channel
it into activities to keep her mind and body busy.
A darling little princess, Misty has
many endearingly charming quirks of a little dog including a little
prance, cute hops, and a desire to be on the couch with you. Do you
have room on yours for Misty?
