GSRNE is
blessed to have a community who actively supports the adoption of
senior animals, and Kess is soon to be a lucky member of that club! A
9-year old white female, Kess has come into GSRNE because her owner's
mother became sick very suddenly, she had to leave the state to go help her mother and couldn't take Kess with her. This is the
second time Kess has been uprooted, as she began the first 8-9 months
of her life living in a car with a homeless man who couldn't afford to
feed her correctly. Kess is hoping for one final home where she can
live out her Golden Years with someone that loves her.
Kess is
an amazing girl and her previous owner told us she is wonderful and
patient with kids-- all of the 14 grandchildren! Kess has met many
strangers since she came to us, and is very friendly in her greetings.
She is very well-mannered
except for a predisposition to counter surf and get in the trash.
Watching what you leave on the counters, reminders that it is off
limits, and keeping the trash covered will help her learn that they
are off limits.
Good with other dogs, Kess loves to play
at a local dog park. During the photoshoot of the above pictures the
photographer told us the following,
"This was Kess' second run of the
day and she did great. We crossed
a football field and walked along a river. She initially was
afraid to jump over the log, then it became second nature to her.
We hung out at a grounded raft, and both my dogs could jump on
it, but she was unable to. She was only able to lift her front paws
onto the raft, then Danny assisted her the rest of the way up. She
enjoyed it up there, with him and her foster brother, Rocky.
We were out for about two hours. She came to me for affection,
and played great with my dogs on the beach. She waded in the water;
had no fear of it.
Kess did great meeting my
dogs at my house. Cats are also okay with her: Kess is reported to pay
them little attention. She met my cat at her photo session and did great. Curious for a few
seconds, she was soon off to find something more interesting. She even gave
the cat a kiss and which was captured on film. She seems to be an emotionally
healthy dog, not too Velcro yet not too standoffish. Really
nice dog!" Kess it at such a
wonderful age. She is still young enough to be active and yet old
enough to be calm. She loves to be with people and will be your
best friend. She just wants to be with a family, whether on a walk,
outside or inside. For those who seek the wonderful attributes
of a senior dog and would feel blessed to give this girl the peaceful
retirement she deserves, Kess is waiting to meet you!
