I had to say goodbye to Jolene today. Her hips were very bad and her mobility had been deteriorating. After a very bad weekend in which she struggled terribly, I knew I needed to let her go.
Maggie was Jolene’s mom, and both were senior dogs when they came to live with me in July 2014. They were both such sweethearts. I lost Maggie in September 2016 to a heart condition. Jolene was not herself after losing her mom, but we adjusted as best we could. Jolene had serious hip issues when she came into the rescue, and with great support from GSRNE, we managed her issues as long as we could.
They were both so very special, and my time with them was too short. Adopting senior dogs was one of the best things I have ever done. They were such blessings in my life.
