Sometimes good things come in small packages, and Peaches is certainly evidence of that!  As a GSD/mix, she’s smaller than the dogs we usually bring into GSRNE, but her personality is all GSD!

When we first heard about Peaches, in August, she was just 10 weeks old.  She had been the last pup left at a shelter adoption day, and a kind-hearted woman decided to give her a home.  Once she learned the expense of giving the pup vaccinations and vet care, though, she realized she could not do it long term.  She called GSRNE and asked if we would take responsibility for Peaches and find her a wonderful home.

During foster care, we learned that Peaches needs a confident leader to help her get past her discomfort at meeting new people.  After a few weeks, which got her off to a good start, we moved her to another foster home where she was able to get a lot of socialization by visiting pet supply stores, Home Depot, the bank and the homes of friends.  If visitors have a treat to offer her, she’ll warm up quickly.  Peaches enjoys other dogs and loves her time in doggy daycare; she’s happy to meet other dogs during her walks.  She has met some cats and tried to play chase games, which they didn’t enjoy.  When one cat hissed at her, Peaches walked in the other direction.

At home, she’s active and fun but also likes to relax and watch TV and can be quite the snuggler once she becomes comfortable with her special person.  Her foster Mom says, “She has great eye contact, and when she sits and looks into my eyes, my heart just melts….she is such a delightful little girl.”

If you have a place in your heart for this active little girl, who is eager to please, please ask us about the possibility of meeting Peaches.
