After going through 12 weeks of obedience training, Elvis is looking to his handler for direction instead of doing things his own way. He’s ready for that special adopter who knows the breed and would enjoy working with him to create the special bond he’s capable of and continue the training and mental stimulation that makes him shine.
This handsome boy is looking for his forever home with an experienced German Shepherd person who wants a real buddy. Someone who enjoys training as well as play sessions, and who has no interest in going to a dog park, could be just the person Elvis is waiting for.
After his owner died, a family member tried to find another home for Elvis and, eventually, called GSRNE. During the evaluation, we learned that he had not had much training. He was living with two other dogs and two cats and seemed to get along with all of them; but he was very excited and kept trying to jump on the visitors. He definitely needs to have his energy directed into specific activities so he’s able to relax and just hang out at the end of the day.
He loves going for walks and car rides and will bring you his toys and invite you to play; if you’re too busy, he’ll throw his toys around and entertain himself. He has a large tennis ball that he will whip across the room and then go get it. In his foster home, he tries to dominate the young, female German Shepherd who is a family member. He has no interest in playing with her, and we’ve decided he’ll be happiest as an only dog. He really bonds with his people and wants to be with them as much as possible.
Elvis will stay in a crate when no one is home to keep him company, but he is not able to meet new people while he’s in the crate. When visitors come to the house, his foster Dad takes him outside on leash to meet them and accompany them inside. After that proper introduction, Elvis is quick to make friends. If you’d like to become his new best friend, please ask for more information about this active boy.
