If you ask Addy to “Go find your ball,” she’ll pick up the large Kong tennis ball and bring it to you, drop it and then keep her eye on it until you throw it for her.  She will keep up the game for as long as you’re willing to pick up the ball and throw it for her again.  She loves to be with her person and will stop what she’s doing and follow you to see if you’re going to do something interesting.

Addy is a good-natured girl who loves attention and companionship; when you sit and talk to her, she’ll look right at you and put her paw on you as though trying to understand every word.  She enjoys learning new things and has been great with everyone she meets.  She’ll bark when a visitor comes to the door and then just wants to make friends once her foster Mom tells her, “OK, you can say Hi.”

With other dogs, she does need a gradual introduction because she gets very excited and active.  She has been able to attend a doggy daycare, but she was not comfortable with all the dogs….just some of them.  When out for a walk, she’ll walk well on a loose leash until she smells or sees something she really wants to go investigate.  She knows a variety of commands and gets an “A” for Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Wait, Give/drop a toy, Quiet and Leave it.

Addy had a good life as an integrated family member for her first 4 years, until her owner developed such bad allergies that she was no longer able to have Addy in the house.  She set up a crate on the porch and used a heater to provide warmth in cold weather; but Addy was alone much of the time.  When she kept breaking out of her quarters, her owner knew it was necessary to find another home for Addy; she wanted to be sure it would be with someone who would love her as she deserves.  If you can be that someone, please apply for an adoption application and indicate that you’re interested in Addy.
