This year we will continue the tradition of holding two Silent Auctions and a very exciting Live Auction.
On Sunday, April 26, we begin setting up around 9:30 am. All the tables and auction items have to be in place by 11:30 am when the first Silent Auction begins. After the auction, we need help to pack up and leave the auction room in order. It’s a lot of fun and there is a great sense of accomplishment to be a part of the day. In addition to the auction, we will have a sales table, a food table with sandwiches and chips and baked goods as well as a 50/50 raffle.

On Saturday, March 28th, we start the tagging party at 10:30AM and work until we’re done, which is usually around 5PM. If you’re unable to stay all day, please consider coming by for a couple of hours. Any length of time will be a big help! We DO take a food break in the middle of the day, and we each bring something to snack on or drink (fruit juice, soda, water, etc.). Please email email@example.com to R.S.V.P. and let us know what food or drink item you’ll be able to bring. Each person can bring a small or moderate amount (2 bottles of soda, a large bag of chips, 1 kind of dessert, a few sandwiches, plate of cheese and crackers, etc). We put it all out, buffet style, and take about 45 minutes to reward ourselves with food (positive reinforcement!). If you are not able to bring food, we still hope you will attend. There’s always enough to share!
What do we do at the Tagging Party?
All the donated items for the auction should be received by us by Monday, March 16, 2015. Once we have the items, we need to decide which go into the Live Auction (usually about 60 – 70 items), which go into the Yellow Silent Auction and which go into the Blue Silent Auction. We physically move all the items into their designated rooms. We then put a colored dot sticker on each item showing the Auction Catalog number assigned to that item. Items that do not yet have a description for the catalog need to have one written, so we need creative writers to do that on the spot. Eventually, all items will to be boxed up for transport to the Holiday Inn on the morning of the Auction!

It’s a lot of work but we make it a lot of fun and it is a great way to meet other GSRNE volunteers!
What items are we looking for? German Shepherd items of course! Statues, rugs, throws, pillows, key chains, GSD notepaper, cards and paintings — just about anything goes as long as they are first quality and something that can be sold.
Dog-related items do very well and don’t need to be German Shepherd specific. We are looking for dog bowls, cookie jars, leashes, collars, dog beds – all kinds of pet products! One-half to two-thirds of the auction items are pet specific and the good news is that if we receive too many of one type of item for the auction, they can be used for other events or even for our foster dogs. But we don’t leave out people! We have seen beautiful vases, jewelry, collectible plates, and baskets of products that anyone can use. Sports memorabilia items are also very popular, as are any kind of electronics. Come and see which items raise the most this year! Here are just a few samples from the more than 300 items that successful bidders took home from our 2014 Auction.
PLEASE complete a form for each item you donate. It really, really helps us to have the completed form at hand when we are preparing our Auction Catalog and your tax deductible donation receipt. We do need a separate form for each item you donate. There are three ways to donating items to us: 1. You can bring items to the tagging party. 2. Donations are accepted at any time but to ensure inclusion in this year’s auction and auction catalog, items should be received by us no later than March 16th.
Once all the items are received and organized, we will post all available items online so that you can plan ahead. We will have printed copies of the catalog at the auction.
Business Advertising: You may advertise your business in our catalog to show your support and it also comes with online exposure. There are five options from which to choose ranging from $150 for inside the front cover (1 available) and $75 for a full-page size (7″ x 9.5″) ad to a copy of your business card (3.5″ x 2.25″ for $20. Who knew helping a charity would be so much fun?
GSRNE’s 16th Annual Auction is Sunday, April 26, from 11:00 am – 4:30 pm. Some of the most unusual and treasured items will be auctioned off in our Live Auction and two Silent Auctions! There are also raffles, good food and our wonderful sales table where you can find GSRNE items and more. Come early and bid often!
This benefit auction features everything a dog lover could need or want! Unique and unusual items will be available featuring a German Shepherd theme – a rare opportunity for the German Shepherd Dog enthusiast to find so many collectibles at one time, in one place. This year we also have items galore for the human members of your family. Mark your calendar and plan on having a great time and helping out New England’s German Shepherd Dogs in need!
Enjoy bidding on (and winning) many terrific canine, non-canine and German Shepherd Dog collectibles. You can feel good knowing that you have helped pay for veterinary visits, medicine, surgeries, food and other expenses required to rescue German Shepherds from shelters and place them in loving homes or with the Working Dog Programs such as Search and Rescue, Coast Guard, State and Local Police K-9 units. Last year we were able to place many dogs but some required extensive medical treatment to give them a quality life. We are asking everyone to try and help out in any way they can.
On Auction Day, we can accept cash, personal checks and credit cards for payment of your items.
Cash is appreciated for the food and sales tables. Please don’t forget to bring a little extra for raffle tickets!

BOSTON / 93 NORTH: Route 93 North onto Tobin Bridge; follow Route 1 North for approximately 12 miles. The Holiday Inn Hotel will be on the right side one hundred yards after the underpass.
WEST: I-90 Mass Turnpike to 95 North ROUTE 95 / 128 NORTH Route 95 / 128 take exit 44A (Route 1 South Boston) at end of exit/stop sign merge over into far left lane and follow lane so that you reverse direction back onto Route 1 North and Holiday Inn Hotel will be 50 yards up on the right.

2008 – 1/20/2015
It is with great sadness that we announce that ‘Dixie’ GSRNE #263 has crossed the bridge. Adopted in June 2009, Dixie was 11 months old when she came to GSRNE. She was a beautiful black and red, playful pup who had lots of energy. She was smart, full of life and had so many great qualities — she was truly a wonderful girl. Her life was happy, filled with many get-togethers in the warm summer months by her family’s pool and daily walks and errands in the car. Sadly at just six years of age, she was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and passed over the rainbow bridge on January 20th.
Hearing a beloved dog has Hemangiosarcoma is about one of the worst things that can happen to any family/dog owner. The decision to end a life is never easy. It takes much courage. it’s a very hard and loving decision – letting go of a pet that has given so much love and companionship. We always hope our dogs, once adopted, will live a long happy life and pass of old age. Our sweet Dixie was not one of them but, we are grateful she had six happy years. We love you Dixie girl! Till we see you again… wait for us at the rainbow bridge.
