Reno's Buddy says,

It’s hard to believe that this friendly, affectionate boy was apparently abandoned in the woods; he was confused, underweight and in the company of a female German Shepherd in similar condition.  Fortunately, an Animal Control Officer was able to pick them up and transport them to a shelter.  As time passed, and Reno was not adopted, GSRNE was contacted and asked one of our trained evaluators to go and meet this three-year-old male GSD.

Right from that first meeting, we were impressed with the way he leaned in for stroking, gave kisses and seemed calm and gentle.  It was also obvious, though, that he had no obedience training, didn’t recognize basic words like “sit” and pulled hard on the leash; his foster home had some work to do!

Reno went to live with an experienced foster Mom and her female German Shepherd and male Lab, and his playful nature emerged and blossomed.  He loves having a playmate to throw a toy, another dog to romp with, going for long walks, rides in the car; and he’s fine just hanging out with you when you have other things to do.

His excitement level goes up when he meets people, but it’s a happy excitement; he’s learning the word “Off” and that it’s not OK to jump on someone to say “HI THERE!”  He was also in the habit of using his mouth quite a bit and is learning to pick up a toy instead, so any children in the family should be older than ten or eleven.

If you have room in your life for this energetic boy and would like to be the object of his affection and devotion, please ask about Reno.
